No active components

I have an active licence which renewed a couple of months ago. When about to run a regular scan  acouple of weeks ago, the message 'no active components' prevented this. Since then I have followed and repeated several times the AVG instructions to repair and uninstall and nothing works. I have had no previous problems with AVG which I have had for about 18 months.

Can anyone suggest how to resolve this please?
