On my Samsung Galaxy S8+ running Android 9.0, AVG Cleaner V6.4.1 (800009240) is typically reporting only 10 items cleaned and 77 items failed, all of these being hidden cache failures. The cleaning process had been working as expected until quite recently. According to Google Play Store, AVG Cleaner was last updated on the 7th of June 2022.
Apart from a new version of AVG Cleaner, what else could have changed? Could it be than some permissions have been lost?
Hello Beau,
We will check and help you to resolve it.
- Are you using AVG Tuneup to clear cache files?
- Please confirm the operating system installed in your device?
- How do you confirm that PC not clearing cache file?
It is not clearing hidden cache anymore. I pay fir premium for this service alone. It's leaving at least 80% of hidden cache after every scan. How do I fix this?

Roger,
Cache has its uses in terms of performance although some apps leave it lying around and don't re-use it which is wasteful. However, when your mobile device is close to full, cleaning cache is a useful way to make space for updating apps and performing other operations.

How do you know its leaving 80% cache behind. Well I would suggest to not worry about cache. Cache is actually good for the mobile devices.

I have had an e-mail response from AVG stating that …
“This is a bug in the latest version of our AVG Cleaner app. Our developers know about it and are already working on fixing it.”
There is currently no timescale for the release of a fix but it is being investigated as a matter of urgency.
Thank you for sharing the valuable information, Roger.
