Here is a screenshot of the pop-up. I have not been able to record the defocussing event, but it occurs regularly.
if you don't need/want the AVG Internet Security option, i think i have the answer …
please realize that you are going to be editing the startup configuration for your PC, so, be careful. that said …
try this … click on the Microsoft icon (lower left corner). in the "search programs and files" box, type msconfig. in the dialog box that is displayed, find the startup tab. in there, you should have 2 AVG options (or at least i did). find the AVG Internet Security option and uncheck it. close the dialog. next time you boot, you shouldn't see the message (i'm "guessing", as i haven't tried the reboot, yet, but this SHOULD do it).
AVG were very fast to look at my problem.
Unfortunately, they weren't able to fix it (they believe the issue is related to windows, not AVG) but I appreciate the rapidity of their response

As the title says, pop-ups from AVG have been defocussing full screen applications for some time, though I have only recently come to the conclusion that is was AVG.
If I had know it was AVG causing this problem when it started, I wouldn't still have AVG, and neither would my parents (who have the paid version), my brothers and friends who all installed AVG at my recommendation.
This pop-up occurs randomly during use and pulls focus three times each time from whatever application I'm using to the desktop. This is particularly annoying if using applications that don't handle being minimised well - causing them to become unresponsive. (eg. some games)
If this is program behaviour that you do not intend to change, please inform me so I can uninstall the adware.
Hello Pete,
If you uncheck AVG internet Security from the MSCONFIG then on system startup you won't have the AVG program running which means your computer will be vulnerable to all threats.
This campaign popups couldn't be stopped and it is our only way of marketing our products.
We request our customers to ignore such popups if they aren't interested to try the latest version.
Hello d na,
Sorry to know that you have uninstalled AVG.

Seriously AVG? You blame Windows for the inconvenience of your own pop-up nags??
Amazing!
Fix it or lose the 20+ users I support.
Absolutely amazing
No need. I'm sufferring the same as James above.
I just switched to Avast free edition. Easy peasy. One down, 19+ to go.
Hello d na,
You may receive legitimate 'campaign' pop-ups which are temporary. We have escalated all such cases to the concerned department and our developers team is working on it. You may also receive pop-ups when your 'trial' version has expired and any of the components of your AVG program is inactive. Such pop-ups can be avoided once you remove AVG traces using 'AVG Remover Tool' and then reinstall your AVG program. Could you please provide us the screen-shot you are referring to, which will help us in identifying the issue and assist you better. Thank you.
