Don't know why this started happening. When I turn it off, everything works normally again.
Hello Eric,
I am sorry to hear that. Please disable https scan from the online shield settings and check if that fix the issue.
To disable https scan, please open AVG Internet Security/AVG Antivirus free->Menu->Settings->Components->Online Shield->Customize->uncheck "Https scan".
Once you uncheck this option, please check if you are able to access websites normally with Online shield enabled. If you face any difficulties, feel free to contact us.
When the update is released, could you please post here or perhaps send me an email? I'd like to know when it is safe to use my desktop pc again.
Got an ETA on the update that's gonna fix this for me? Will I be safe continuing to use my computer with HTTPS scanning disabled or do you recommend that I stay off the internet until that update comes out???
Thanks for your response, Karthikeyan. After unchecking https scan, everything seems to work normally. However, I feel unsafe with the setting like that. Even though https sites are "secure", you can still get a virus/malware/spyware from them. They need to be scanned.
