Outlook 2016 fails to fetch emails with AVG security certificate applied

Hello Jack,

We are aware of this as AVG email shield would cause issues in sending/receiving emails through Outlook or Thunderbird.
This has been confirmed as bug and our developers are working on a fix.
We will resolve this as soon as possible. Your patience is much appreciated.

Just had to replace wife's PC AVG with ESET trial because AVG certificate was somehow conflicting with latest Outlook 2016/365 such that IMAP email downloads were not complete (not all downloaded with the sync request), actually Outlook was not updating the list.  On restart of Outlook it would ask for the Certificate to be validated: "The server you are connected to is using a security certificate that cannot be verified.  The target principal name is incorrect.  Do you want to continue using this server?", which we did - no change in emails though. 

IT guy tried all sorts of things to fix the problem but the only thing that worked was to install ESET having removed AVG, a costly affair.  Is there a fix for this?
