This has been going on for quite a while now. At least 2-3 months. I first noticed it when I saw that my Outlook outbox still had emails in it. Took me a while to figure out that it was VPN holding up the show.

We are glad to know that your issue has been resolved.
It seems that there was a temporary issue with the previously selected VPN sever, so we have changed the location and the issue has been resolved.

Do you mean that I should change MY location? Otherwise I don't know where to find 'server location'.

Thank you for writing back to us. Could you please change the server location in AVG Secure VPN and check whether you can send and receive emails in Microsoft outlook program? We look forward for your response.
Changed my location and successfully sent 2 emails. Now we'll see if I get any!!
