Password protect AVG settings

Thanks for the information. I think this would be a big PRO to have in the AVG system. If it was available, I would have been saved from a hack last weekend; they used teamviewer to hack my computer.

I was away on my computer (running administrative priveledges) and during that time the attacker gained acces to my PC using teamviewer. They uploaded virusses that were initially blocked by AVG. However, the attackers next step was to "temporatly disable avg". A simple password on that disable option could have save me a lot of money and worries.

By disabling AVG, they were able to recover all my browser passwords more easliy, drop trojans and hidden spywares.

An administrator password is required to disable or change settings. Of course if everyone in your household has an administrator account, there's nothing to prevent them from uninstalling AVG or otherwise ruining the PC.

Zbynek,

Thanks for the reply. I will look into the bussines edition. Please note that UAC is not the solution for teamviewer (or related) hacks since the attacker can gain himself acces by simply pressing the allow button.
Thanks.

I don't want users to be able to "temporatly disable antivirus protection" at my computer or "allow" certain apps that where blocked initially by AVG.

Is there a posibility to password protect the AVG antivirus? I have the Free edition, but wouldn't mint to switch to pro if it is available there.

Hi Willy,
That is why there is UAC feature in Windows. There is such option in AVG Bussines edition, but in your case simply enabling UAC should help.
Thanks
