I understand that you did not receive any notification or pop-up from AVG that the installation is blocked.
This might have caused, if you have not set AVG to show notification for the files that were blocked by AVG. To check this open AVG Internt Security->Click on Menu->Settings->Components->Resident shield->Actions->Check "Show notification window when action is taken".

When attempting to install the Turbotax 2017 application, the process halted at "ready for installation" with no explanation. After an hour of troubleshooting auto play problems for Windows 10, I opened AVG and found an update notice. After I performed the AVG update, the CD spun up and the application loaded. Why doesn't AVG post an explanation when it stops installations?
