Pop ups on web browser and Tabs opening up to various sites

Alan,
Please note that these kind of tool bars and search engines get into the computer along with some other software or if we visit any untrustworthy websites accidentally. I would request you to uninstall unknown add ons from your web browsers. Please right click on the desktop shortcuts of your web browsers, click on Properties, check the 'Target' field. It should be “C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe” for IE and “C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe”  for Chrome. Please check and remove if any other text is added to this path.

Hi, Not sure why but when I open my web browser (Internet explorer or Edge) I get pop us appearing for various sites which some are inappropriate, also I get new tabs opening up to various sites. I have checked the pop up settings and carried out numerous scans but nothing seems to work. My search engine has also changed when I open it. I have gone to check the default setting which seems to be ok.
one message popped up saying your "computer has been infected you must call this number  and we will talk you through what to do. I had herd of this before as being fake.

hope you can help, thanks
