Potentially suspect attachments

Hello Doug,
Sorry for the inconvenience caused.
Are you using Email client or Browser to view your emails?
Thank you.

HI,

I am currently receiving a large number of suspiscious emails of the general form "Attached is your invoice (etc etc)". These appear to come from bona fide addresses but are clearly not as in many cases I have had no contact with the company.

The attachments can be .doc, .xls or .zip.

I never open them but all my mail is scanned by AVG free and nothing is ever detected.

What is the nature of the threat here and should it be detected?

Thanks

Doug

I'm using Outlook 2010 and win10
