Prevent Application from accessing Internet

Hello Jason,
Thank you for contacting AVG Community Support.
We understand that you want to prevent apps accessing internet for multiple apps. We'll certainly check and help you out.
Enhanced Firewall creates application rules each time an application or process starts for the first time. These rules determine how Enhanced Firewall behaves toward each application or process when it connects to the internet or to another network. Advanced users can set connection allowances for each individual app to determine how strictly Enhanced Firewall monitors any incoming or outgoing communication.
We recommend you only modify your application rules if absolutely necessary. In most cases, Enhanced Firewall formulates optimal rules without your input.
If an application has not yet made a connection attempt, it does not appear on the Application rules screen because it does not yet have assigned application rules.
You can specify the rules that Enhanced Firewall applies for apps that do not yet have assigned application rules via ☰ Menu ▸ Settings ▸ Basic protection ▸ Enhanced Firewall ▸ How should Firewall treat new apps?.
If the apps already accessed internet, you need to specify the rules seperately for each apps.

Hello,

I would like to ask if there's a quicker way to bulk block applications from accessing the internet? I have some application that does not require network functionality but still has a bit of telemetry data to the Internet that I would like to block.

I'm thinking if there's a quicker way to do this on AVG Firewall rules, instead of choosing each and every application, I can apply a block rule across multiple applications.

Does anyone know how this can be done? Thanks in advance. :)

Hi Abdul Kader,

Thank you for your detailed answer. Yes that is acutally what I found in the application, and I understand the implications as to blocking applications this way.

My query was that if there's a way to apply rules in bulk to multiple applications so I do not need to moditfy rules on a per application basis. I want all applications under a certain vendor to not access internet completely.

I was able to do it one by one, and was able to add applications into the list even if they has not (yet) accessed the internet, but I would like to do this more efficiently.

Is it possible to do so, or would this be an upcoming feature?

Thanks in advance. :)

Thank you for writing us back Jason,
Unfortunately there is no way to apply the same rules on multiple application in same time. You can apply the rule indiviually for every application. I hope this helps resolve your doubt ! If you’re still having any trouble, or have any questions, feel free to message me. I’d be happy to help.

Thank you for your understanding.
