AVG is compatible with Microsoft Windows 7 Home Basic / Home Premium / Professional / Enterprise / Ultimate - Service Pack 1 with Convenient Rollup Update, 32 / 64-bit.
Please let us know the service pack installed on your Windows 7. To check this : Press windows logo key & R keys together to get runline command - Type winver & hit enter.
Also, check whether AVG is listed in the programs list installed on your computer & share us the screenshot of it for better clarity.
Hi, I have the Service Pack 1 installed, I don't think it has the Convenient Rollup Update.
AVG is not listed in my programs list. I also installed AVG Clear to see if that would help - it did not, and now every time I turn on my laptop, I get a black screen asking if I want to run Windows or AVG Clear. AVG Clear is not listed in my programs list either, so I don't know how I'm supposed to remove it.
Hi, I've been using AVG FREE for over ten years. I recently took my Dell Vostro laptop for repairs and they uninstalled everything. I didn't realize until tonight that they didn't reinstall any antivirus. So I downloaded the AVG installation setup, which I've always done myself, and it's been a headache. First, it told me that Windows couldn't install it without a verified digital signature or something like that. I disabled this feature from Windows and tried again, but the installation always stops at around 45%. I've tried it many times, already, I even installed some .NET framework, but it's no use. I don't understand why it's being such a hassle when it's always been such a straightforward installation - maybe they uninstalled something when they repaired my disk? Any help would be appreciated.

I understand, but then how do I remove AVG Clear from my system so that my computer starts normally without that black screen asking if I want to run AVG Clear?
Here's the screenshot you asked for, although it's in Spanish:
I'm not sure about reinstalling AVG FREE right now if I don't know what to do differently this time. I already tried installing it multiple times yesterday with no success; it's not going to be different unless I do something different.

Thank you for the response.
AVG Clear is a tool to remove the installer set up. It is not an installer file and hence you don't find it in the installed programs list. The Winver command will list out the build details along with the service pack information.Share the screenshot informing about the built details. Please reinstall the AVG FREE antivirus and see if the installation completes.
