Problem restoring a file from quarantine

Yes. It is the same message.

Thank you for being patient.
It is necessary for us to analyze AVG log files to proceed further.
Hence, an email instruction has been sent on how to collect and send us the log files.
If the email is not found in inbox do check in spam and junk folders.

The problem appeared again.
I cannot restore, restore as, restore and add exception, even not send for analysis.
I updated to 19.2.3079 (build 19.2.4186.405). Still the same.

The problem is solved in the latest version.
I noticed that you removed the choice "Restore as", to keep only "Restore".

Thank you for having solved the problem.

Some more infos:

1) I tried with an EICAR file. In that case, in the quarantine folder, I see the index.xml file and the
   quarantined file.
Deleting or restoring the file from within AVG works.

Did AVG correct something in the SW, so that the quarantine now works?

2) In the quarantine folder, before I made the test of point 1, there was only the index.xml file,
but no other file, as the one appearing when I did the test of point 1.

Or is the file encrypted in the "IDPBlob" field of the index file?

Conclusions:
1) As I don't need the file, no action is necessary to try to retreive the missing file.

2) The only point is that I have now an entry in my index, which points to a non existing file.
Is there a way to reset this?

Index.xml is AVG database of detected files and it is protected. It's not possible to remove it. If you would like to remove Index.xml file you have to disable AVG self protection.
How to remove AVG Index.xml:
1. Open AVG > Menu > Settings > Troubleshooting > uncheck "Enable AVG Self Protection module" and confirm OK.,
2. Now you should be able to remove Index.xml.

The index.xml file I talked about is in the quarantine folder (c:\ProgramData\AVG\Antivirus\chest).
It is not listed in the AVG quarantine window.

In the AVG quarantine window, only the detected file is listed (as usually). But as the corresponding quarantined file seems not to be present in the quarantine folder, no way to delete it!

Hi,
I have a problem restoring a file from quarantine:

- If I choose Restore, nothing happens.
- If I choose Restore as, I can choose a path, but the following message appears: "Whops  Error the file can't be restored"
- Delete works.

I have version 18.4.3056 with correction of bug concerning conflict with windows defender.
Can you help me?

Priyanga Sekar,
19.2.3079 (versie 19.2.4186.405). So, exactly the same as that of chapr chapr. To be honest: I think there was an old AVG bug revived in it, the one of May 2018, mentioned at the start of this topic.

The problem is solved in the latest version.
I noticed that you removed the choice "Restore as", to keep only "Restore".

Thank you for having solved the problem.

Jack, let's check what has gone wrong.
Could you provide the version of AVG Antivirus free/AVG Internet Security installed on your PC? To find: To find: Open AVG Internet Security > Menu > About

AVG free 19.2.3079 (build 19.2.4186.405)

The following files were detected during installation of Octave 5 :
gpg-agent.exe
dirmngr.exe
These files are probabely harmless: at least not detected by virustotal and also not by AVG outside installation.
