Hi Pam,
We understand your concern, we'll definitely help you with that. We apologize for the inconvenience caused. Could you please attach us the screenshot http://avgclick.me/getscreenshot of the Message you are getting?
Thank you.
I have managed the problem,
enter AVG, Menu, Settings, Components, Email Shield - Customize, SSL scanning, then export Certificate
from Thunderbird : Tools, Options, Advanced - Manage Certificates, Authorities - Import
select the exported certificate from AVG
if it already installed AVG certificate, delete it first, then import again
I'm having the same problem, with Thunderbird mail. Unfortunately, I'm not savy enough to implement the solution. If AVG doesn't solve this from the inside…I'll have to cancel our subscription. Hope you will do this. Thank you
I use Thunderbird as well, and I am having exactly the same issue as Pam when trying to download email. The screenshots she shows are exactly the same as mine.

Last night my AVG Free updated and I performed the restart and then shut down my computer. This morning I am unable to download my gmail and yahoomail accounts using Thunderbird as my mail client. After much frustration I found that by turning off email protection in AVG I could then download the mail. However that is not an acceptable option since it defeats the whole purpose of protecting my computer with an antivirus. Any idea how to fix this? The message I'm getting from Thunderbird is Add Security Exception, You are about to override how Thunderbird identifies this site. It then has pop.googlemail.com:995 in a location box with an option to "Get Certificate" which just freezes everything and nothing happens. I cannot manually add an exception–it also freezes. When disabling AVG everything downloads as it always has with no issues.
Issue is not solved, if anyone has any suggestions as to how I can fix this, I'd appreciate it. Right now I have to disable AVG email scanning to download my mail which I really hate to do. I hate to uninstall it and find another virus protection but that may be the route I have to take if I can't get this fixed. It definitely has something to do with the latest update I installed last night–everything worked fine before then.
Hi Marty,
We apologize for the inconvenience caused, could you please confirm once if you have tried disabling AVG and then checking the issue once?
Thank you!
