Hello Alje,
We understand your concern, the scheduled scan option to run during the PC start up is not available in the AVG 2017 version. This feature will be added in our upcoming updates. The Scheduled scan will run in background, it will not notify in System tray AVG icon, however the Zen interface will show the scanning in progress. Dear sir/madam,

We recently bought AVG Internet Security Unlimited. We detected that a planned scan is not executed when the PC is started up and the planned scan is overdue. In AVG Antivirus Free (2016 version) there we could check a tick box so that a scan will be executed after startup of the PC when this scan was overdue. Do we miss something or is this feature no longer available in AVG?

We would like to inform you that our developers are working on to add schedule scan option during start up of the PC. Once it has been fixed, you will encounter those options in upcoming updates and there is ETA for this.
