I am getting a message saying you are not protected computer protection is turned off with a button next to it saying fix now I click this and noting happens I have checked and all is working ok any help would be appreciated

I'm at a loss I have removed it as you sugest and re installed but still getting message as it seems to be working just telling me it's turned of I am able to run scans and update.
I will leave it be as i have no idea what to do next
Helen, you can get into "uninstall program" window by following a shortcut.
Press Windows and R keys together to open RUN command.
In Run window, type as "appwiz.cpl" without the quotes and press Enter key.
You will get the window opened, right click on "AVG Antivirus" and select "Change" which will show the window to select "repair" option.
Keep us informed about the status.
