Looking into the advanced settings of AVG (geek:area"), I found two strings I've never seen before: "Enable antimalware scanner interface" under the file protection section, and "respect system setting: high contrast" under general section. What are their purpose?
Hello Andrea,
Thank you for contacting AVG Community support.
Antimalware scanner scans for PUP.
Respect system setting is related to display settings set on computer.
The “Respect Device Power Mode Settings” feature on Windows 10 helps minimize high processor and hard drive usage as the system index the contents on your device, and these are the steps to enable it.
Thank you for your understanding.

Hello Andrea,
We will check and help you to clarify it.
- Could you please share the screenshot (https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=AVG-Create-screenshot) of the issue page in which those settings are disabled?
- Please confirm whether you are using AVG Anti-virus free or paid subscription?
- Have you tried to repair or reinstall AVG program and check it?
So, the AMSI function is just related to PUP? I'm asking because I thought AVG already implemented by default PUP protection. I want to point out these two setting were disabled, and I didn't touch them (are they supposed to be unstable/high cpu consuming?). Thanks for any answer provided!
