Ransomware Protection Question

Hello George,
Please be informed that AVG Ransomware Protection automatically scans for and secures folders where you might store personal data.
To manually add another folder to the list of protected folders, follow below steps:
1. Open AVG Internet Security.
2. Go to Menu ▸ Ransomware Protection.
3. Click the Protected Folders tab.
4. Click Add Folder, then select a folder and click OK. You can add any folder that you wish to protect.
To specify which types of files are protected in each folder, click 'Change protected file types'. All listed file types are selected by default. Tick the box next to a file type to deselect it.
Thank you.

I have installed "AVG Internet Security", ver 17.5.3022 on Windows 8.1.  One of the features is "Ransomware Protection".  Within that, I can specify which additional folders get protected.  My question is "Do all sub-directories of a selected directory, ALSO get protected?".
