Re-installing AVG Anti-virus for Mac

Charlie, Did you resolve your issue with AVG?.

Hi everyone,

I'm having trouble reinstalling AVG Anti-virus on my MacBook. I uninstalled my previous version of AVG due to an issue. I downloaded a new copy of AVG Anti-virus, but the installer keeps telling me that Anti-virus is already installed: but, as far as I can tell, the old copy of Anti-virus was successfully uninstalled. When I search for 'AVG' in Finder, all I can see is the new dmg. file and installer: not the old copy of AVG.

Does anyone know what might be going on?

Many thanks for your help.

Hello, Charlie.

I am sorry for the delay in responding. I would request you to follow the steps provided below to resolve the installation issue.

- Open terminal and run “kextstat | grep com.avg”. List of records will be displayed.
- For every record from previous step us the "sudo kextunload -b [RECORD NAME]" command
- Once all records from 1st step are removed, installation/update should be successful.
