Hello Per,
My name is Jovana, and I’m on the AVG Customer Care Team. Please accept my apologies for the delay.
Thank you for reaching out to us regarding the MOVEit breach, I’d be happy to answer your questions and help you.
First and foremost, thank you for being cautious and checking with us directly. We did send you a legitimate notification to inform you that some of your personal information was involved in a recent cyber event.
For the majority of customers, this involved only name, country, and postcode or less, for example only name and country. If your email address was leaked, it was the one associated with your current account. To protect your personal information, we have not compiled this information into a single record. Provision of a copy of your data involved in this incident, i.e. searching for the matches, would require an enormous effort. We can assure you that high-risk information such as your password, credit card number, and bank account number were not involved.
Our systems are secure and operational. Strong encryption is part of our multi-layer protection. When we learned of this matter, we acted immediately to protect our environment and investigate the potential impact. We immediately investigated the scope of the issue and notified the relevant data protection regulators and those whose data may have been impacted.
While the information is not considered high risk, we take this seriously and want to ensure you are prepared to be vigilant against any potential phishing threats using this information. As a valued customer, we are here to help.
We are offering complimentary Dark Web Monitoring services for 6 months and we strongly encourage you to activate your free subscription to help strengthen your Cyber Safety. You can expect an email from us in the coming days with information on how to redeem your complimentary subscription. Stay on the lookout for phishing threats. Some of the common signs to watch out for include offers that are too-good-to-be-true, requests for your personal information, spelling and grammatical mistakes, generic greetings, calls for immediate action, senders you don’t recognize, or suspicious links and attachments.
I hope this is helpful. Again, we are sorry for your inconvenience. If you need anything else at all, feel free to reach out to us again.
