I use AVG for free and haven't had a problem in 8 years. Recently got a notification that I needed an upgrade and clicked OK. Upgrade started a full computer scan and then kept asking for access to protected files (never did that before on updates). The box with the access request would not let you close it or deny access. Stopped the scan and hit the X symbol about 10 times and the access box finally disappeared. However, so did my AVG Icon and access to AVG. Downloaded AVG FREE twice, restarted both times, and still can't an Icon or way to start the program. Was this a virus or am I just doing something wrong?

Followed your instructions in both emails. However, after running the remover tool it says that it needs to restart (which you said not to do) and it won't let me delete the AVG remover file from the C drive. It gives me a message that says "Cannot delete AVG_Remover.exe:access is denied. What do I do now???

My current problem is that AVG is currently asking for access to a protected file (it’s impossible to read the file name) when I click Ok it asks for a password – I have no idea which password it wants, but it won’t complete the computer scan without it. Help!
Joe, In future please refrain from carrying out multiple postings on the same subject! You won't obtain an answer to your query any faster!.
