Remote access threats

Hello Gerald,
Thank you for contacting AVG Community Support.
We are really sorry to know this. We'll certainly check and help you out.
We'd suggest you to run our deep scan and boot time scan using AVG Internet Security. The two scans will reveal the threats detected and remove it, and provide you a complete protection. As you have the AVG Internet Security actively installed on your PC, there is no possibility for key-loggers and exploitation over remote. AVG Internt Security has its Remote Access Shield that protects your PC by automatically blocking the following connections:
Connections from known malicious IP addresses.
Connections that attempt to exploit known vulnerabilities in Microsoft's Remote Desktop Protocol, such as BlueKeep.
Brute-force attacks that repeatedly try to log in to your system with commonly used or stolen login credentials.
AVG alerts you each time Remote Access Shield blocks a connection.

Likewise, AVG has Ransomware protection and it will not allow to modify you file informations, which assures you a strong security. Please, run deep scan and boot time scan and let us know its results. If you still suspect of threat, do let us know, we have our technical support. I'll inform our specialists to look this for you.

Thank you for your understanding.

Hi,
A couple of days ago, my secretary gave remote access to a internet company that she thought was was our accounting software vendor, but was not.  It was a scam trying to sell a solution for 1,000$ which we did not need. Now i am worried about this computer security.  This computer is not used for on line banking so my log in credentials are apparently safe. I checked with my bank.  But will AVG find any threats, like key stroke loggers or ransomware, that these bad actors may have downloaded into my computer when they had remote access? I updated and ran a virus scan but found nothing.  Is there something else I can do short of wiping my hard drive and completely installing OS (windows), software and data?
thanks
Gerald
