My AVG installation is asking for a restart about every half hour.
I select postpone for 24 hours and it still comes back half an hour later.
Is this program now so unstable that I should unsubscribe and look for an alternative provider?
Getting very fed up....
I have now restarted the computer about 9 times, and every time it comes back the same…

This could be caused due to incomplete installation of updates. I would suggest you to uninstall AVG Internet Security and re install it to resolve the issue. I understand your concern but did you restart your PC once by clicking on restart option on the popup that you received from AVG?
It is recommended to restart the PC when you get the prompt from AVG.
If you click on postpone then the popup will keep appearing as you have postponed the recommended reboot.
If you haven't performed restart from the prompt appeared then proceed with the restart and if it still appears do let us know.
