We'd like to inform that AVG Rescue CD has been discontinued and there is no alternative at the moment. If you have AVG AntiViirus free or AVG Internet Security installed on your PC, you can run a boot time scan. It scans for known types of malware and removes threats before the operating system and other services are running. Scanning during startup improves the chances of detecting and removing malware before it can counteract.

Hi, was just checking your articles and cannot find what replaced using an AVG startup CD or flash drive. How to fix a compromised or infected computer?

so what can you do if a computer does not have AVG installed and it is infected?

Jon, we'd recommend to install AVG AntiVirus and run a scan if the computer is bootable. If you can not start the computer, please use original windows installation disc to access advanced system repair options like, 'System restore point' or 'Reset your PC to factory settings'.
