Resolving unsecured threats

Hello Balasubramanian,

Thanks for your last reply. I checked Quarantine but the threat was not there. I ran Deep Scan again but this time no threats were found. I assume therefore that the issues were resolved after the first Deep Scan despite the fact that after clicking on "Resolve" there was no indication it jhad been resolved. Thanks for your suggestions and willingness to help.

Best wishes

Geoff

Hello
Balasubramanian,

Many thanks indeed for the swift reply.  Your suggestion seems very logical. Unfortunately, the system does not appear to have retained the report at the end of the scan or perhaps I am not looking in the correct place. Are they stored somewhere specific? I guess I will need to run the scan again (which ran for c 10 hours) and then take a screenshot.

Interestingly, running Malwarebytes Free does not detect the threat but then perhaps it wouldn’t anyway.

I will be back in touch.

Kind regards

Geoff

I have AVG Antivirus Free. I ran a deep scan which detected 3 unsecured threats - Win 32: Malware-gen. When I try to resolve the threat, the system attempts to do this but then comes back to say "Resolve >" .Is there a reason why this not working?

When I look at the file path, the threat is within a deleted email which is also in two email back-up files.  If I fully delete all the deleted mail fro these folders will that resolve the issue?

Any advice welcome.

Thanks

Geoff

Thank you for updating the status, Geoff.
In general, the threats found on deep scan should get resolved as soon as you click on "resolve" option.
However, for some files a restart will always be necessary for the threats to get removed.

You are most welcome, Geoff.
We can check whether the threat was moved to AVG Quarantine.
Open AVG Antivirus free program window.
Click on "Menu–>Quarantine" to check the list of threats moved to quarantine.
If not, you can perform deep scan again and it shouldn't take more time as you mentioned.
We are available 24/7 and you can contact us with the screenshot, if you get the threat results.
Have a nice day!

Hello Geoff,

We request you to provide the screenshot of the threat detection results of AVG.
You can post the screenshot here in your topic. Click on 'Answer' & then click on the 'Image' [mountain symbol] & follow the instructions.
We will check the details of it and then confirm whether you can delete the email or not.
Thank you.
