We see that our senior technicians fixed your issue regarding the DirecTV app blocked by AVG firewall. The issue was fixed by enabling the file and printer sharing option from firewall settings and changing the network group from "Public to Private". Within the last couple of days AVG has issued an update that has interfered with an application that I use to connect to my DirecTV receiver. I'm a disabled guy, and I use a browser-based list of DirecTV channels to select the channels I want to watch. Something, I assume having to do with the software firewall, would not allow me to communicate with the DirecTV receiver.
For example whenever I click on a channel that I would like to watch it sends the following string to the DirecTV receiver and changes the channel : 192.168.10.32:8080/tv/tune?major=4
This would change the channel to channel 4.

We regret to hear about the inconvenience caused. We suggest you to check the DirecTV receiver after AVG Firewall disable. Please follow the below instructions to disable AVG Firewall : Open AVG Zen -> Open Internet Security -> Click on "Menu" in the top right corner -> Settings -> Components -> Disable Firewall (Click on Disable until restart)

Believe me, I'm way ahead of you. It worked fine after I disabled firewall. Disabling the whole firewall kind of defeats the purpose of using AVG's built-in firewall. It's puzzling as to why such a small string of information being sent to my DirecTV receiver is causing such a problem. I wish there was a way I can tell that the string is even being sent to the device.
