"Safeguard your browsers" popup

In mcconfig/Startup there are no programs entitled "None" or even a blank entry with AVG as manufacturer.  There are 3 AVG Framework entries - 2 checked and one unchecked, plus one unchecked entry for AVG-Ads-XP+7.  It's not so much that I am getting the popup that is annoying, as I know it is the cross we bear for using  the free version of AVG, but the fact that it will not close when I decline the offer.

I did take up the remote assistance offer after all.  I am now waiting for the popup to appear to see how it behaves -  which will be the only occasion when I am keen to see an AVG popup!

[AVG Free - without Zen]
Each time this pops up on my Win 7 64 bit machine, I click "decline" but it won't close.  If I open a window in Explorer, some parts of the popup might get chopped off, depending on where on the screen the window opens, but the popup still won't go and I have to logoff to get rid of it completely.  It's bad enough having to put up with AVG popups without this additional irritation.  Is there a way to stop this happening - apart from clicking "OK"?

No email received as at 12:08 hrs today, but it might be more explanatory if I wait until the popup appears again (and it will!) and take some screenshots which should show what is happening.  I have advanced settings set to allow popups every 3 days so it may not be very soon.

Hello Kate,
We are sorry to know that you keep getting the AVG pop-up to "Safeguard your browser". To stop this pop-up, we suggest you to try this following step.

In the new window select "Startup" tab
* Alist of startup programs can be seen, from that select a program with name "None" with publisher name AVG and uncheck this from startup
* restart the PC
and you will not see this safeguard browser pop-up.

Just an update for anyone following this thread.  AVG have offered me free remote assistance, which I think is generous of them considering I use the Free version, and that it's a rather minor problem I have raised.  However, I am not entirely comfortable with the idea of someone I do not know having access to my computer, but I'm thinking about it.

We request you to try again this time and we are sure that it should work.
