My last question below did not elicit the answer I needed. Perhaps I did not make it clear that I do not know how to replace the file avgwfpx.sys on the hard drive. How does that work exactly? I am reluctant to play around with it in the hope of finding the answer (as I normally do with problems to solve) as any silly moves I make may completely stall the AVG. Please treat me as a complete novice where the inner workings of the computer are concerned.
Many thanks for your help. I got as far as finding the file avgwfpx.sys but then came unstuck as I don't know how to proceed to replace it with your suggestion and do not want to do anything to upset the system. Could you please indulge me with step by step instructions!
