Scanning to computer

Meanwhile, please let us know if you've changed the network profile to private to check.

Sometimes, this could happen if few firewall settings are not modified, Stewart. However, from your message, we're uncertain if you've activated the AVG Internet Security subscription. To check this : Open AVG - My AVG - My subscriptions - Check the renewal date beside AVG Internet Security is 
2020.8.20. If so, please follow the below steps : 
Open AVG - Menu - Settings - Full protection - Enhanced firewall - Scroll down to find 'System rules' - Ensure that the 1st 2 options are enabled (Allow windows file & printer sharing, Allow remote desktop connections). 
Additionally, you can change the network profile to private & check (in the same window).

We would like to help you on this matter and we need a clarity with the scanning to your computer.
May I ask how did you confirm that AVG Firewall is blocking the scanning function?
Could you explain how you are trying to scan the computer?

Why did my firewall start blocking scanning to my computer? It has been over 6 months and even our tech guy could not fix it. I have disable the firewall or scan to a thumb drive. This is unacceptable and we will be removing your software if the problem cannot be resolved. Thank you.

Tried it and it did not work. Would we need to reboot the computer to activate the change? The second field for internet sharing was not checked before.
