Security concerns with AVG

Hello Prempeh,

We regret the inconvenience caused. We'll check & clarify this sequentially according to your queries.

1. AVG Secure VPN enables you to disguise your location by hiding your real IP address. This helps prevent websites and servers from tracking your real location. This could be the reason why you're seeing change in Flag & Country.
2. We'd like to assure you that AVG will not alter the functions of your keys (Keyboard). Could you tell us from when this issue started happening & how often it occurs?
3. Please let us know how you check your email. Do you use any email clients (such as Outlook, Thunderbird, Bat)? Also, tell us if you're unable to send/receive emails when the AVG Secure VPN was turned on.
4. In order to check why your C drive keeps getting accumulated, please mention the size of your C: drive/partition & how much free space left on it.

Hello

Although I have purchased your product and have been well with it over the past 5 months, I am having strong concerns over the product and its security factors as it seems that even though I have purchased your product it still begs the question for my security and IP address protection.

My reason for suggesting this is although I do have the product and have secured myself by not only purchasing the VPN but AVG Tune Up, and Internet Security I am still feeling insecure with the products as I have issues such as

  • The country flag and country name changing, as though someone from somewhere is tracking my internet activity.
  • I find that my keyboard changes structure such as @ symbols becoming " inverted commas
  • Emails being blocked and not sending
  • Computer C-Drive always keeps getting full without reason and I have done all the necessary procedures to keep this from happening
  • Word documents being left open on the desktop when starting the machine when I have never shut down the machine abruptly

I would usually overlook these factors but during the course of 5 months there has just been so much unusual activity occurring that I cannot just pass it as coincidence. Seeing that I have purchased almost all the products on AVG to keep myself secure online, why do I feel a lot more enslaved than liberated on my own internet and web experience. If AVG is as secure as it claims to be then I would only believe that this matter could be occurring internally within the company than externally from hackers.

I do hope that I am wrong but nevertheless I cannot pass it by since I have tried everything and talking to the support community seems to be the last resort.

Is AVG itself doing this and why? Because what is meant to keep me at peace is rather frustrating instead.

Let us attempt to clarify this for you, Prempeh.

1. Sometimes, the server (location) might change to a different server, if the server to which you're connected is under maintenance or unavailable.

2. As informed earlier, AVG doesn't interfere with the keys entered. It could be caused due to the hot keys or static energy stored on your machine, as you said that upon restarting it works fine. You can also perform a power drain to check if it helps.

3. You may experience a slower internet connection when using AVG Secure VPN. This is because a VPN encrypts traffic and data before sending it to a server. Depending on the distance and capacity of the server, this process may cause a slightly slower, but safer, internet connection.

4. The files saved on your drive might not be in a sequential manner, which could be the reason for space consumption. To check this, you can either use the Drive Defrag feature in AVG TuneUp or windows defrag feature.
