I HOPE my call to your customer support was recorded! Like so many here, i too have been hit with an unauthorized charge. I have the original email from 2021 asking me to click on a link to activate my FREE AVG account… FREE!! I was charged $35.88 but didn’t see it until after the 30 day requirement to request a refund. My fault, I chalked it up to my loss. Now 1yr later, there is a $89.99 charge on my account- again for this FREE AVG service. This time Im within the 30 day window to request a refund. The support person tried to negotiate with me, even asking “how about a 50% refund?” Needlessly to say that didn’t go well. Then she proceeded to tell me I was notified via email about the charge, um NO, I was not. She sent me a letter to my email while on the phone. HOWEVER she could NOT produce the actual email this form letter was sent with, validating a time and date stamp that it was sent - therefore BY the FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION law I HAVE NOT been legally notified of a pending charge, giving me an opportunity to decline the charge. The fact they say I “signed up” for a service that would automatically renew annually is irrelevant in my case because I have their original email saying the service would be FREE. Supposedly the entire charge will be refunded as they said. We will see. Pay attention folks, the fact they can produce a form letter does not confirm it was ever sent to you. Ask for them to forward you the email they sent it with, if they can’t then it doesn’t exist and was never sent.
