It is generally not recommended to disable firewall protection on your device. May I know the reason why would you want to do it? You can disable AVG Firewall as described below.
Open AVG Internet Security, click on Menu -> Settings -> Components -> Firewall. Toggle the On/Off slider to disable or enable AVG Firewall.
The reason for wanting to disconnect firewall, is my program is telling me that there is no internet connection , firewall is blocking.

If AVG Firewall is blocking some of the communication then follow the below steps to check whether it fixes the issue:
1) Open AVG Internet Security dashboard, click on "Menu–>Settings–>Components–>Firewall–>Customize"
2) To the right of "Policies" scroll down to click on "System Rules"
3) Enable the option for "Windows file sharing and printing", "allow remote desktop connection" and the last entry "Enable stealth mode"
4) Below policies, click on "Network Profiles", to the right click on the network connection and change the profile to "Private" if it is set to "Public".
