Sick And Tired Of Upgrade Pop-Ups

Hello Roger,

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused.
This upgrade to internet security is our legitimate business campaign popup and by clicking on keep existing protection or close button it should get closed, we are sorry to know that in your case you have to force shutdown this from taskbar.
We request you to try disabling AVG Advisory Notification and check whether you get the popup again.
1. Open AVG program.
2. Click "Options" on the right top corner and select "Advanced Settings".
3. Select Appearance on the left panel of the settings.
4. Please uncheck the checkbox "AVG Advisor Notification" .
5. Then in left side please look for Privacy Preference and select it.
6. Now please untick first option in right side.
7. Click "Ok" to save the changes.

After removing AVG and reinstalling it, I am happy to say that the pop-up did not occur today. So the procedure recommended by Balasubramanian appears to have worked.

I will certainly let you know if the pop-up reappears but, for now, I would like to say thank you to all who have helped.

Regards,

Roger

Every day I get a pop-up asking to upgrade to Internet Security.

Every day I have to cancel it.

It will NOT close by clicking the close button.
It will NOT close by clicking the "Keep Existing Protection" link.

The ONLY way I can get rid of it is to right click on the task bar and select close.

This happens EVERY day after I start my PC.

Are you deliberately trying to annoy your users?
Once I have said NO, I expect you to remember my answer.

So STOP this annoying practice or I will switch to another A/V. There are plenty out there.

Actually, Kishore, "Wayne" was giving ME some help on MY problem. I don't know what issue he has, but it is not yet fixed for ME.

So, thank you Wayne for your suggestion and thank you Balasubramanian for yours.

I did as Balasubramanian suggested and used the removal tool and then installed the 32-bit version that I just downloaded.

Unfortunately, Wayne, after clicking on the "Custom Install" button, there was no "Free" option. The options were:

Computer Protection - always selected
Web Component
Email Protection

I installed all three features as I want them all.

I also turned off: Update Notifications and AVG Advisor Notifications. Those were in System Tray Notifications in the Appearance section.
I also turned off the Product Imporovement Program in the Privacy Preferences.

I will certainly let you know if i get the pop-up tomorrow after I turn on the PC again.

Thanks for your quick reply. OK, I will do as you say and will let you know what happens tomorrow after my PC has been off all night and I switch it on again in the morning.

Regards,

Roger.

i think i know the issue … run through the avg uninstaler process then when you reinstal it choose custom then click avg free or it will default to installing the one with the popup that says your pro protection has ended upgrade…

Thank you.

Yesterday, in Advanced Settings / Appearance / System Tray Notifications, I unchecked both Update Notificatons and AVG Advisor Notifications.

I also unchecked the first box in Privacy Preferences.

All of these settings are still unchecked today, but I STILL got the "Upgrade To Internet Security" pop-up.

So what do you suggest now?

Regards,

Roger
