Slow network after AVG 2017 install

Hello Chris,
I'm sorry to hear about this. In this case, I request you to disable AVG component (open AVG Antivirus/AVG Internet Security > menu > settings > components) one by one an check with component is blocking/slowing down your Internet Speed, I also request you to check the AVG program you have installed on your computer (control panel > program and features).

I know there are posts already but I don't feel like searching for the threads. Started when avg 2016 started prompting me that notepad was a Trojan. Tried to remove the infection but could not. After reading it appears this is common with 2016. To be sure I ran notepad file through VirusTotal and it is clean.

so I updated to 2017 on my laptop and desktop. Now my internet speed is slow. I tried the suggestions I saw in another thread with no improvement. Suggestions, thoughts or solutions?
