Some issues with planned scans

Hi Alok,
in "report files" ("Protokolldatei" in German) there was a simple "*". I thought, this means, that AVG generates a default file name. Seems to be not so. I entered an explicit file path here and started the planed scan manually. But the file I have entered wasn't created. Has the file name to be entered without path? Where is the doku for this?

But my other question remains open too. Why is the planed/scheduled scan not started at the time I entered for it? Is this a timezone problem? And where is the simple overview of executed scans AVG provided in older versions? Formerly I didn't have to open a logfile on disk to see, when the last scans were executed, because AVG displayed it for me.

Hello Tkansgar,
Please be informed that we are performing a major migration from 2016 to 2017 version. We are receiving feedback from customer to add or remove some of the features, the changes will be at the earliest as possible. However, you can see the AVG Antivirus free schedule scan preference here (http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-start-or-plan-a-computer-scan) and you can find the AVG Free Antivirus 2017 schedule scan reports here, open the AVG user interface on your desktop, and click the gear icon next to Scan Computer > Select Schedule Scan> report files.
Best regards,
Alok.

Hi,
I have AVG AntiVirus Free, and I have some issues with my planned scans:

  1. The scan planned for every Sunday at 15:10 (local time for Berlin, Germany) really happens at some other time I couldn't examine exactly until now. At 15:10 nothing happens. Why is this so?
  2. Where can I find the scan results of the carried out planned scans? In the old AVG GUI these were easy to find. Where are they now?
Many thanks
tkansgar

Hello Torsten,

I can understand how difficult this is for you. There is some problem with the scheduled scan and it is already been escalated to the developer team and they are working on a permanent fix. Once a new update is released, it will fix all this scan issues with AVG and you can find the scan reports from this location:

Windows 10, Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows 7, or Windows Vista: C:\ProgramData\AVG\Antivirus\report
Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\AVG\Antivirus\report

As the interface of the AVG is changed, the overview of the scan results in no longer available in the latest version.

Torsen,
Thank you for your valuable feedback. At the moment, the "Last scan run" will update only when you start a scan by clicking on "Scan computer" on the main interface. However, in the upcoming release of AVG the quick scan, deep scan and full comp scan or scheduled scan should be updated too.

Hi Karthikeyan,

this is good and important info! I found the logfiles at the place you posted. One older of them has the name of my planed scan (the default name I supposed in my previous posting), and the newest has the new name I entered in its settings, although the path is different. In these logfiles I can see, that my scan was executed on the correct week days, but much later than I set. And in the last weeks it wasn't executed at all. Do you know, that this location of the logfiles is hidden to normal users, so they have no chance to have a look at the scan results?

I have another hint for you: After I manually executed this scan, in front of the Button "Computer Scan" there is displayed the time of this execution. But before this there was displayed "Never". This couldn't be the truth, because I saw the scans and found them in the logfiles, as sayed above.

I hope, these things all will be fixed in a future version, as you promised.
