"Sorry, couldn't reach our update server."

Hello Tracie, I understand how something like this can really try your patience. I am very sorry to hear this. I request you to uninstall AVG and then reinstall AVG product in your pc to get your issue resolved. Please feel free to contact us back for any further assistance. Thank you.

Here is what I have posted on a few other threads:

For those of you who have not already switched to AVAST anti-virus, here is my suggestion.  Write an e-mail, txt message, or twitter message to AVG's upper-management.  Please, be nice but explain our problem and ask for help.

I sent an e-mail to Andrew.Reid@avg.com on 7/10 asking for help.  He is the Senior VP in charge of Product Development.  The mail did not bounce back, so I have hope.  You might also write to the president, Gary Kovacs (Gary.Kovacs@avg.com).  While I am sure that they are unaware of this problem, any one of them could help bring focus and resources to this problem.

I've uninstalled twice and re-installed twice. Once using the AVG uninstall program from your website. I even used AVG_RegFix.exe and that didn't work.

It works!!!  I've been following these threads for a month now waiting for someone to figure this thing out.  Thank you, thank you, thank you!

i have been having all of these same problems for 3 days now. none of the suggested solutions work. it seems there is not a solution at this time.

Tracie, The situ is still under investigation with AVG. For the time being please continue manually updating.

Hi all,
This issue seems to be connected to Windows XP SP2 for help please try install Service pack 3 (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/help/learn-how-to-install-windows-xp-service-pack-3-sp3).
Thanks

update definitions won't update. Get "Sorry, couldn't reach our update server." No error code in the message.
I have no issues connecting to the internet.
I've uninstalled twice. Once using the AVG uninstall program from your website. I even used AVG_RegFix.exe and that didn't work.

What else can we try to fix this?
thanks

The issue HAS NO WAY BEEN RESOLVED. Manually updating definitions is not the solution. If this keeps up, I will just switch Anti-Virus programs.  When will it be RESOLVED the right way, automatically update on it's own???  @Sreedevi Padmakumar or an AVG Technologie people!!!
