I'm having a similar problem to other people, as in a scan is auto-running in the background, after I boot the laptop. OK - fine. that's not an issue. I did set up a late night scan, with option to shut down after scan set to on.
That was not supposed to run every time I switch on the Machine on a morning ! It now wants to shutdown after around an hour's running, after every single boot ! This I did not set up to do. I have read about the "advanced options menu". I have selected every menu I can find, but am completely at a loss as to where the heck this advanced settings menu is. I can no longer get back to where I set up the late night scan - to turn that off either. jeez.this is getting to the point of binning AVG altogether, and screw the expense !!!! so, does anyone have a step-by step, through the menus, to get me navigated to where I can stop the dang shutdown thing. Cheers. Best regards.

Yes -I fully understand the concept. What I don't understand is why My copy does not have the Settings button for it, that your colleague has shown in his copy, further back in this conversation. Please compare my screendump, with his screendump. It is for this reason I started the conversation. All I wanted to do, was to still allow a boot time scan, but to stop the PC wanting to shut down after this scan is complete. I still have no Settings button to be able to do this. And also want to understand why when I clicked on Boot time scan today, It was apparently "NOT INSTALLED" and then proceded to install itself. But yet it has already been running at every boot up , without any Settings Icon?

Gary, the settings will not be available for "boot time scan".
The settings shown before is actually for "schedule scan" and it will appear only when you setup the schedule scan.
The procedure of boot time scan cannot be changed. It can be either enabled or disabled.
Thanks.
As you can see - I do not possess all the buttons you are showing. However, I have just clicked on boot time scan. See next screen shot
