My AVG free scan is stuck on 1% for three hours. I have tried the following solutions: Pressing stop - no response. Rebooting - scan still stuck. Uninstalling - failed message received. Repairing - failed message received. Uncheck game mode - still stuck.
Penny, You've used the AVG remover tool so you should be able to re-install AVG again.

Alan, I have Windows Defender and now I no longer have AVG my control panel says it is working and I am protected up to its capabilities. Obviously if I re-install AVG Windows Defender will shut down. However, I am nervous about re-installing AVG because of the stuck issue and when I looked into the records more closely I found that for a period of at least a week the daily scheduled scan did not run and there was no notification and the system was telling me I was protected when clearly I was not. Obviously as a long-term user of AVG this is a disappointment. Looking at the comments on this website it would appear that many other people have recently encountered this stuck issue. Penny
Thank you for repsonding, and being so helpful. I have used AVG Free for almost 15 years and have never encountered this problem. The Remover Tool worked and I was able finally to uninstall AVG Free. To be honest I am reluctant to reinstall it in case the same problem reoccurs. I automatically have Windows Defender on my PC and given I am not a high risk user this may well be sufficient. Sorry to leave.
