On August 26, 2024 I received an email from AVG regarding my Renewed AVG Secure VPN Subscription. On at least two separate occasions (8/2 and 8/20), AVG notified me that there was a Subscription Renewal Failure because AVG was "unable to process your payment." Each email requested that I update my payment details. I declined to offer any information because I did not wish to continue with AVG and was planning to switch to a different provider. Suddenly, on Monday, August 26, 2024 congratulating me on renewing my VPN subscription. I was billed $108.86 (incl. VAT) for 1 year. The billing date was identified as August 2, 2025, which suggests that I had renewed my coverage on August 2, 2024. How is it possible that my coverage was renewed on the same day that AVG was "unable to process your payment."  If AVG charges before my subscription expires, why did the company seek updated information about my credit card? If the subscription automatically renews (on Aug. 2), why did I get a Renewal Failure email on August 20? The Renewal email informed me that "if  (I) do not wish to renew, …contact us or log in to AVG account before you are due to be charged." As it happens, I have already signed up with another company for the VPN, and now I am being billed for service I never intended to renew. I have found contradictory statement. It's all double-speak. My current subscription period is due to expire on September 6. How do I cancel my subscription and get a refund of my $108.86? This transaction was made in a very deceptive and underhanded way. I don't want anything to do with AVG now or in the future.
