Wow, this thread got a lot busier whilst I was at work!
@Kishore, screenshot as below, although I think you've got enough examples! Maybe you could confirm that someone is definitely looking at this as an bug with AVG and NOT the operating system or virus?
I've also noticed that as I had TimeMachine enabled, AVG has also taken the liberty of scanning and corrupting my backups. Maybe this is time to uninstall AVG as others have suggested?
Updated this morning, removed Chrome from the exceptions list and got the "blocked" message when I launched it again. Are you sure it's fixed? @Balasubramanian

I have AVG Antivirus for Mac installed as I still deal with Windows users.
Recently I have started receiving alerts for OSX/AMC.P threats, but with no information as to what this is exactly. It appears in not only core apps such as iTunes, etc., but also apps such as Firefox and Google Chrome. If I select the Protect Me option, the app then fails to launch, unless I re-launch and click Add Exception on the next threat screen.
Can anyone confirm exactly what type of threat OSX/AMC.P is, and why it's suddenly started appearing in core app files? I have PUA scanning enabled.
P.S. There are so few options to configure AVG for Mac, compared to the AVG for Windows version. Not quite sure this is a good thing…
Uninstalled AVG and installed Bitdefender too. Now everything works ok - except for all the programs that can't be started. Hopefully time machine will save me. Great job AVG! Goodbye.
I have the same problem. Does anyone have a fix for this?
Same here. Chr5ome and teamviewer won't open, comes up with the below. Only started happening this morning. What is it? Do I have a virus?
I spoke to support about an hour ago who told me it was just "some bug" and not to worry, however i cant say it was the most convinving of answers. his focused just seemed to be me uninstalling and reinstalling. he said i would recive support from another part of the team, but couldnt give me a time frame of when that would be.
Has anybody heard any different? Im not sure what the best thing to do is at the moment.

I'm having the same issue; just started today. AVG tells me that several of the Google Chrome files are infected–including the Chrome app itself. When I quarantined them, Chrome wouldn't launch, so I removed them from quarantine.
Is there some new problem with Chrome, or is it with the update to AVG that's giving false alerts?
To resolve this problem this what I did.
I went into the vault and restored the files that relate ONLY to this problem!
Then I uninstalled AVG and rebooted the system, I then installed Bitfender (30 day FREE trial).
The system took a couple of reboots because of a driver issue.
The Bitfender Full Scan found nothing and it appears to be working fine.
I suspect this is an AVG system issue not a virus issue but I will wait for any updates.

AVG Mac OS support… You could try this avenue. Please click on the following link (http://avgclick.me/AVGtechnical) and choose Yes for the Question "Are you currently using any paid/trial AVG products?" inspite of using the Free version and fill out your details, select as Mac OS then the name of AVG Program that you installed in your device and in description please completely explain about your issue and finally click on the 'Start Chat' option. You will start a live, online chat with one of the AVG agents.
