I just got a talking message from Microsoft (?) stating I had a virus and to call them or they would report me. I had a hard time turning off my computer so I took out the battery. What was that and how do I stop getting that. I figure its a scam… I was on facebook. please help…

According to your description, it seems like a Pop-Up which makes you think that your computer is infected, however, there are no infections on your computer.
I suggest you to Reset your Browsers and Run a complete scan of your computer.
