The category is HTML:SCRIPT-INF[SUSP]. IS IT DANGEROUS

Hello Bob,
Thank you for contacting AVG Community Support.
I apologize if any inconvenience was caused due to the threat secured pop up received. Not to worry we will check and assist you with it.
I request you to check below suggested steps.

  • Make sure your AVG Internet security is updated. Open AVG Internet security program and go to menu > settings > general > update and click on both virus definition and software version to update, though they are already up to date and then check again after rebooting your computer.
  • Make sure you do not have another antivirus program installed along since it will create conflict resulting in such pop up.
  • Check in the pop up from which browser you are receiving and check after clearing cookies and caches or restting in that respective browser.
If you still receive a screenshot of the pop up will be helpful. If you check the pop up you received from AVG, at the bottom you will "SEE DETAILS" with an arrow, clicking on it will expand the pop up with more details about it. Could you help me with a screenshot after expanding "SEE DETAILS"?

What is the cause for this error popping up when I boot up my laptop?

indicates that AVG's security software has identified a suspicious HTML script. This classification suggests that the script may contain potentially harmful code, such as malicious scripts that could steal data, hijack your device, or redirect you to malicious sites.

If you're encountering warnings related to local.avg.com and the "HTML

SUSP
" detection, it's possible that AVG's software is flagging its own internal processes. This could be a false positive, where legitimate software is mistakenly identified as malicious.
