Hi Chris,
We would like to clarify that AVG remote access shield allows you to control which IP addresses are allowed to connect remotely to your PC, and blocks all unauthorized connection attempts.
It can block even the attempt of transferring the files that you send it to the computers connected on the same network.
If you are getting the prompt only while transferring the files remotely to your other computers, then we can add the ip address of the network in order to stop AVG remote access shield to stop blocking them.
Open AVG Internet Security program window.
Click on "Hacker Attacks" and click on "Gear" icon.
Select "Remote Access Shield", and check whether the box that says "block all connections expect the following" is selected.
If yes, click on 'Add' and enter the network's ip address and check the status.
Thank you.
Hey Guys,
I found the bug…
My Issues:
AVG Internet Security blocking allowed, legit LAN connections in remote access shield
Flagged as - SMB: Brute Force Attempt
Disable "Enable Samba protection" in Remote Access Shield to Fix it, it's classifying SMB as Samba…
Let's get on the ball AVG, this is an unacceptable bug…Love Ya… :-/
Hi Paul,
We're glad to look into this & help you.
For better clarity, please share us the screenshot of the threat notification that you receive from AVG, after clicking on 'See details' in it.
Incoming connection blocked.
AVG safely blocked an attempt to connect to your computer using remote desk top
Threat name SMB:BruteForce
URL smb://192.168.1.11/BruteForce
Process System
Detected by Remote Access Shield
Status Connection blocked
My question to the community is
1) Should I be worried
2) is this an attack from outside my building/house or is it someone I know in my building/house
3) has anyone else had this warning?
4) is there anything I should be doing to protect my internet/computers
