Hello again. I tried this on my own computer and first have the issue that my Mac didn't "load your extensions". That's a secondary issue, so I'll put it at the end.
I was able to run a manual scan. It found 3 "threats". There is no point where I can see details of the detected threat. What does the "threat name" mean? How can I find out more about the thread?
(In this example, RemoteTap is server software I installed but no longer use.)
Then, I was able to find the Quarantine tile in the interface. But where is the quarantine in the file system? What is the path?
Also, I'll ask again: is there a log of the scan and how can it be accessed?
As to the new issue of extensions failing to load, I've referred to this thread (| AVG) and this one (| AVG) already. I have allowed Fill Disk Access to "AVG AntiVirus" and the problem persists after quitting and relaunching the app. As you can see, there is no "Fix All" button on the upper right.
Also, AVG does not appear to be blocked by Gatekeeper. (There's no alert about system software from AVG Technologies there.):
Hello Rock,
We will check and help you to resolve it. Could you please share the screenshot (http://https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=AVG-Create-screenshot) of the threat detection which you received from AVG program?
Refer the below article to know how to open Quarantine folder :

You can post the screenshot here in your topic. Click on Answer & then click on the Image [mountain symbol] & follow the instructions.
Thanks in advance.
When I post on this forum, nothing ever shows up. Then suddently bam, 2 or 3 times. Maybe y'all need to fix this forum first. Try #2 on this one.
This is MacOS 10.14.6. Yes, I can open the quarantine and have the option to delete or restore the "threat" files from the original manual scan. However, I still have no idea how to interpret what the supposed threat is. I also find it curious that AVG moves files which are contained in applicaiton packages rather than the entire application. Doing this of course would leave in place a non-functional applicaiton.
There is no "show details" option presented after second manual scan, because no new threats were found. However note that since AVG doesn't apparently have full disk access – despite having granted that in System Preferences > Security & Privacy. I never noticed that option after the first scans (one on my computer, one on the origianl computer I'm supporting).
As for the original location of the 3 files identified as threats, as mentioned they were all contained within an applicaiton package, of an app I installed but no longer use, and have no reason to suspect is a threat, at the following path:
~/Library/Application Support/Remote Tap/
Still waiting for an answer to the 3 basic questions I'm asking, which should really not be such a mystery. To reiterate simply:
• location of scan log
• how to best get more info on each particular "threat"
• location of quarantine directory in file system*
* I could not find the "quarantined" file with Spotlight, leaving me to think it must be compressed or altered in the quarantine location.
I installed AVG Free and ran it. It found 30 "threats" – each with a button next to it. Clicking each button said something like "threat secured". But what does that actually do? It doesn't appear to move the file in question anywhere. Where is the quarantine folder? I see no reference to such a thing in settings.
Also, is there any way to save a log of the scan? Or to get any further info on the supposed "threats"?
Thank you for providing us the info, Rock.
In order to help you with the requested info (exact path), we've seeked help from our senior team. We've raised a request on your behalf to them.

I asked just a couple of basic questions, very clearly. If you'd care to reply here – also for the benefit of your other customers/users – that would be fabulous.
Many thanks.
PS: Sorry my answer got posted 3 times. As I noted, the forum didn't appear to accept the posts.
Hello Rock,
We are sorry to know this.
We will send an email asking you for a few details and please reply to that email for further queries.
Thank you.
I'll await the email. As for the article linked, I've already reported above that most of those elements are not applicable. There is no "Fix All" button. There is no message or option in the Gatekeeper section of Security & Privacy settings to allow software from AVG Technology. Full Disk access is already allowed for AVG, yet I'm still seeing the messages about extensions failing to load, etc.
Click on 'computer' tile and access Quarantine and let us know whether you are able to see "Delete" "restore to" options for the threats available in the list?
If yes, are you able to delete the threats that were found on the manual scan?
May I know what happens when you click on "Showdetails" option once the scan is completed?
Please perform the manual scan again and let us know whether you still see "remote tap PUP" on the list.
Please move the mouse pointer on original location to know about the complete location of the file path that was detected as a threat.
Regarding, the option to save scan logs, we are checking with our senior team. We will keep you posted.
