Hi
A few days ago my google chrome stopped working. I re-installed and then it stopped again. I checked my AVG antivirus and noticed that this had been deactivated too. In my panic I googled the problem and got what I thought was an AVG helpline. I spoke to a guy who used teamviewer to show me that the above mentioned trojan had got into my computer and he went on to explain that the first thing it does is close down all your alerts and protection so you don't know of the problem until its too late.
He said it had got in via an unsecure IP address.
He advised me that he would be able to fix it and quoted me a package of 149.99 to do so. I thought I was dealing with AVG and this was my only option but from speaking with others since then, I gathered my biggest problem was that this guy could have set up a keylogger.
I've now had my computer wiped and am in the process of re-installing everything but could do with knowing if anyone thinks I was actully scammed, or if this trojan would have been a problem and if it can indeed access a computer from an unsecured IP address?
Thanks
