Hello Bruce,
Let's work together to fix it. Are you trying to turn on your AVG Secure VPN on Windows device?
Please open AVG Secure VPN -> My AVG -> My subscription -> Log in -> enter your email address and password to activate your paid subscription.

When I try to switch my VPN on I get a message offering either a 30 day free trial or to purchase for $4.49 per month.  According to my records, my VPN subscription is up to date (renewed in April 2018).
