Thank you for writing us back Cary,
Pop-up viruses often trick people by posing as legitimate security software such as an antivirus program. They usually display a warning of non-existent threats with the intention of panicking you into action. Their hope is that you'll click on the pop-up and pay them to eliminate the “threat”. I appreciate your efforts for figuring out the issue. If you need anything else at all, feel free to message me at any time. I’d be happy to help.
Thank you for your understanding.
Hello Cary,
Thank you for contacting AVG Community Support.
I apologize for the inconvenience you’re facing with the popup this must be frustrating.
- Could you let me know how you suspect it's malware?
- Also, which device and operating system are you using?
- If possible, please provide a screenshot of the popups so I can assist you further.
I'm constantly getting popups in the lower right corner of Microsoft Edge from trustedresponse.co.in. I googled it and other malware products can remove it. Meanwhile my AVG subscription is ignoring it. what's going on?
Hi,
Thanks for getting back to me. The pop-up messages came up and disappeared so quickly I couldn't get a screenshot. They appeared in the lower right corner of the Edge window. They all indicated virus infection due to lapsed Norton or McAfee subscriptions. In small print, you could read trustedresponse.co.in on the pop-ups. Google articles indicated that Malwarebytes could fix the problem.
A little more research showed how to fix the problem without getting a new antivirus solution: Go to Edge settings, Cookies and site permissions, Recent activity, look for trustedresponse.co.in, and click on Reset permissions. That seems to have resolved the problem.
