TuneUp utilities 2014 now says my key has expired

Thank you AVG for fixing this issue.
I would have no problem buying your newer Tune up software but I see no benifit at all, in reality it has been simplified for the average consumer, however it does not do anything more than the 2014 version does already, and I don't have to pay every year for it.
I will withdraw my campaliant to the Dept of Fair Trading Australia.

Hi All

For those who install the perpetual Licence for Tuneup2014 which has now expired, there is a temporary work around.
Set your PC clock to a date in 2020 and it will work again. Just remember to reset the clock date when you've finished.

I am still waiting.
This is not a problem on my end, you have set the keys for Tune-up utilities 2014 to expire, nothing needs investigating, you just need to reactivate our keys.
I'm giving you till the end of this week before I contact the dept of fair trading, I am not going away.

Hi Frances,

We understand your concern. The concerned team is already aware of this & they're working on it to fix it shortly. Hence, we request you to allow some more time for the concerned team to provide the fix.
Thank you for your understanding in advance!

It has now been 11 days since I brought this issue to your attention, and dispite repeated assurances by AVG that you are working on this issue, you have failed to restore my software to the state it was in prior to placing an expirery on my Tune Up utilities 2014 key, it is now Friday afternoon 15th Jan 2021, first thing Monday Morning, 18th Jan 2021, I will be contacting the Australian dept of fair trading and lodging a complaint, we will see if you can hold them off with empty promises.

Thank you Mark Sinclair. Your complaint has been submitted on 29/1/2021

Fair Trading General Complaint Form

Hello to everyone who participated on this forum. My name is Shawn and I am writing to you on behalf of the AVG Senior Support team. I apologize for the delayed follow-up, and thank you very much for your feedback and continued patience.

I am happy to report back, that our development team was able to perform a substantial backend fix to the recent experienced AVG Tuneup 2014 license disruption.

The following AVG article, Troubleshooting when TuneUp Utilities 2014 reports an expired product key | AVG, provides troubleshoot instruction to resolve the expired product key disruption, including uninstallation and reinstallation of a revised version of AVG Tuneup 2014.

I trust this explanation and information help clarify your concern. Best Regards, Shawn

It has now been 3 weeks since this was brought to your attention, so far I have recieved empty promises on this forum, I have been told in your online chat that your developers are working on it, I think you are lying in the hope that we will forget and give up.
I've been in the IT industry for 20 years, and something like this will not be forgotten, quite the opposite, I will ensure that every single one of my clients never touches one of your products.
I have in addition lodged a complaint with the Australian dept of Fair trading, expect ot hear from them sometime in the future, if you want to know what they can do, check out how much Steam got fined for violating our laws, you might then consider pulling your finger out.

Hello Mark.
Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience caused.
TuneUp Utilities is an old product for which the support has ended since Dec 2016, which means there will be no more feature upgrades, no compatibility updates to support newer operating systems such as upcoming Windows 10 releases, no critical security updates and no customer support.
We strongly recommend that you upgrade to latest version of AVG TuneUp to enjoy new features.
Regarding the TuneUp Utilities license expiry issue, we have already escalated it to our concerned team. We will get back to you once we hear from them.
Appreciate your understanding and patience.

Today I turned my computer on to be greeted with a message that my TuneUp utilities 2014 key has expired, when I purchased this product there was nothing stating it would expire, ever, I will not be forced to buy your newer products until I am good and ready, being an IT professional with hundreds of clients, I will be sure to mention your lack of business ethics when it comes to dealing with customers, it's enough that you try to scare your clients into buying your additional products with popup messages.
You will restore my key or provide a refund.

Hello Mark,

Our goal is to provide a consistently reliable product and an exemplary level of customer service. Based on the Tuneup utility issue, we did not meet this goal.

Before even attempting to explain the reasons leading to this unintended mistake, We sincerely apologize to you for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Since the old server of Tuneup utility is still active, you are getting expired message. Once its down, the product will be active. We really appreciate your patience.

Still not working!

And I see no responses from them?
Mark .... They fixed yours??? Mine still does not work?

Hello Mark,

We are really sorry for the inconvenience caused.

We have extended the license of Tuneup utility until 2030. However, license server for these old Tuneup utility licenses will be down. After shutting down the license server, the product will be active until 2030.

It still states that it is expired, even after re-entering the key.

To AVG:
(1) Is TuneUp Utilities 2014 really communicating with servers? I don't think so. I have checked my Norton Firewall several times, I can't find anything about that! And I have checked that all TuneUp Utilities 2014 processes are active in Windows.
(2) In Windows 7 and 10: I've turned date to 31th of december 2020 and started TuneUp Utilities 2014 succesfully, and checked program settings: My setting for "2014" is that program should search for updates every third day...
(3) I restored an old Norton Ghost back up, to an abandoned old Windows XP computer without any Internet connection, in order to see how "2014" behaves. When I tried to start "2014" I got the same error message"! But when I changed date in Windows, to december 31th of 2020, "2014" started and worked perfectly!
=> Everyting points to this: Problem is in the program code. It is checking date and time. If it is 2020 or earlier the program starts, if it is 2021 it won't. 1-2-3 above indicates servers are not part of the problem (???)

TuneUp Utilities 2013 is still working OK. AVG's latest program for tuning Windows computers are working. Compare program code and isolate the bad part in "2014". You should be able to read source code with programmers comment's, what every part of the code is supposed to do. I'm not a programmer, but have some basic knowledge about it.

I am completely peeved about this!!!

When I purchased this it never said anything about it EVER expiring!

I hate the new version of Tuneup you took away 21 features all of which I use!
I have been a user for more then 10 yrs and unless you put them back I have no intention of ever using your product again! You broke it!

You are asking us to pay 70.00 a year for a product that is not even half of what it used to be.
Are you crazy!!! From what I have read is you are loosing a lot of business as a result of this. I guess you figure if you take it away from us we will just bend and pay. NOPE not going to happen!

I do not care about the updates or support. The 2014 version worked just fine for me.

You have NO right to take it away from us!!

I PAID FOR IT I WANT IT BACK!!!!
