TuneUp Utilities 2014 Product Key Suddenly Expired

Hey guys. Just a quick update, to ensure you that this is not a forgotten concern.

Our development team is still working on a backend resolution to this ongoing subscription disruption.

Your continued patience is appreciated, and I will write back upon any new development.

Best Regards, Shawn

When is this going to be fixed AVG?
I am an IT professional and unless this is fixed I will never buy or recomend any AVG products again.
Terminating a product that a customer has paid for is completely unethical, probably illegal.
I bought TuneUp as a one time purchase for 3 PCs and was never informed that the product had a limited life, I don't care about updates or support being discountinued for the product, I JUST WANT TO USE IT!

Hello Dave,

I am circling back to your community forum posting, from having communicated direct by email, to write a quick follow-up update that we were able to amicably resolve your disruption, with the following proposed troubleshoot:

1. In not already uninstalled, uninstall AVG through Control panel.
2. Restart PC
3. Download and run Remover tool from the following link: http://download.avg.com/filedir/util/AVG_Remover.exe
4. Restart PC
5. Download and install file: https://s-install.avcdn.net/tuneup_fullesd/FullESD-14.0.1001.2020_GB_US_DE_ES_MX_FR_BR_PT_1030000.exe

Not to hesitate to write back if there is anything else we may help you with. Regards, Shawn

Hello to everyone who participated on this forum. Thank you very much for your continued patience.

I am happy to report back, that our development team was able to perform a substantial backend fix to the recent experienced AVG Tuneup 2014 license disruption.

The following AVG article, https://is.gd/CYz7On, provides troubleshoot instruction to resolve the expired product key disruption, including uninstallation and reinstallation of a revised version of AVG Tuneup 2014.

I trust this explanation and information help clarify your concern. Best Regards, Shawn

Hello Dave and Chris. Thank you for your time and effort to communicate with AVG and I apologize for the inconvenience you are experiencing. My name is Shawn and I am writing to you on behalf of the AVG Senior Support team.

I understand you are experiencing a disruption with your AVG Tuneup license subscription.

Regrettably, I don't yet have an ETA or a workaround solution to offer, but to be assured that our development team is working diligently on the backend to try and resolve this disruption. I will write back upon any new development (hopefully sometime this week).

In the interim, your continued patience is appreciated. Regards, Shawn

I can not reinstall TuneUp Utilities 2014!
When I try to reinstall, I get the following message:

GetRequiredMsiConfigureAction116389.

When I open the msi-ariche and run the Base.msi file, the installation process starts,
but ends with an error when I enter the license code.

How can I solve this problem?

And by the way:
Just reactivating the license server for 2-3 months does not solve the problem! You have to guarantee forever that Tuneup 2014 will work and can be installed!
If you disable the license server, then you need to develop/provide a patch that makes active activation unnecessary.

What is right must remain right!

This deactivation of an untimed program violates international law and amounts to an attempt at mass fraud.
I have tried on multiple occasions to contact AVG via email as I had done in 2015 when an agreement was reached with a 'support' member.
Despite my attempts, I have received not one response since deactivation occurred this time. It seems the only replies to be seen are on public forums.

The fact that AVG have allowed this to happen and do not even have the courtesy to respond unless it is done publically whilst they undo what amounts to nefarious, misguided actions, will most certainly cost them dearly; their reputation, clients profits, legal standing and lost employment for those who are naive enough to think this won't touch them.
What an absolute disgrace!!

Hi Dave,

We understand your concern.

Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience caused.

TuneUp Utilities is an old product for which the support has ended since Dec 2016, which means there will be no more feature upgrades, no compatibility updates to support newer operating systems such as upcoming Windows 10 releases, no critical security updates and no customer support. The product has reached EOL (End Of Life).

Meanwhile, we have escalated the case to our Senior team. They are investigating the issue further. We will get back to you with a solution to the issue.

Thank you for understanding.

I have the same problem.
This is completely unacceptable and violates European law!
I have no understanding for such behavior on the part of AVG.

I demand that my key is unlocked again, and that permanently!
If the activation server has been disabled, then I demand that you provide all users of TuneUp Utility 2014 with a patch that makes activation or constant communication with the server unnecessary, so that TuneUp Utility 2014 can be used completely offline.

I can not understand why AVG always has such problems and treats its customers like slaves.
Again and again problems with illegal tracking or subscription coercion, this is maximum customer unfriendly!
I'm sure they would sell at least 20% more Tuneup licenses if there was no subscription coercion requirement.

Get in contact with me!

Hello Rakshith,
Yes, i did everything as in your description.
When i left click on the .exe file and select "as administrator",
at the same moment I get the MSI error message. After some testing,
i unzip the .exe file, which shows me the "Base.msi" file.
When i double click on the .msi file, i see a setup window,
but with many scrambled letters;
but i can see a license window. When i type in my key and hit enter,
a second window opens, with the message "the key is not valid".

I also tried to install in compatibility mode, but no constelation
was successful.

I have no idea what the MSI error message 116389 means.
Could it be that something was not uninstalled correctly during the
uninstall process and something was left in the registry that was
not unregistered correctly, or was part of a required runtime deleted
by the uninstall process? (visual runtime)

I also tried installing Tuneup with the virus scanner turned off,
unfortunately without success.

Can you confirm that you tried to install the AVG TuneUp Utilities using this article :

Hello Shaw / Hello AVG Team,

thx for the patch, but i cant install the updated version; i receive the same message like befor,
with my last version. After the problems with the licence-server i have uninstalled my Tuneup 2014
version, with its own uninstall process, then i restart my pc and clean it with Ccleaner.
Since then i recieve the MSI Error Message. I can still install other .exe tools and also .msi packages;
only the .exe files from Tuneup 2014 shows the error.

Win 8.1 / 64
