Turning UAC off

Hi, Stephen.
We'd be glad to clarify this. It is true that we suggest our customers to turn off UAC on their computers to establish a remote connection. However, we could not find any records about your contact to our phone support. Did you use a different email address to contact them than the one you used to contact us here?

I have had trouble installing AVG Internet Security so I rang support, who tried fixing it remotely from there end.  I am a little worried as someone was accessing my computer.  Bottom line is, they couldn't fix it and told me they were sending an Email to me telling me what steps I need to take to fix it.  In the Email they are telling me to turn off UAC, then follow the link to the remote session to resolve the issue. Does this seem fishy to anyone or is this normal practice?

Thanks for any help
Steve

No, Stephen.
You might have contacted our premium technical support which is a different support channel. I have just sent an email with instructions to get connected with our remote assistance team. Please follow those instructions to get in touch with them to resolve your issue with installing AVG.

I rang a 1800 number from avg support, Is it possible the AVG product I downloaded was from a bogus site and the phone number for support associated with the program is therefore bogus and it's all a scam?
